    CCAP Online Training Course

     

    With continuing Covid19 constraints, the annual CCAP CPD course will be delived online, via MS Teams. The course is aimed at students, technicians, early career researchers, industry professionals and algae enthusiasts. You are invited to register for this unique course comprising:

    Algal Biodiversity & Taxonomy

    Nutrition

    Photosynthesis

    Microalgae Biotechnology: Opportunities and Challenges

    Molecular Phycology and Bioinformatics

    Large scale microalgal culture

    Practical Demonstrations by our technical experts on:

    Growth media preparation

    Strain Isolation

    Sub-culturing

    Enumeration

    Cryopreservation

    CCAP’s algal scale up facility (CCAP-ARIES)

    Opportunities for discussion, questions and networking will be timetabled.

     

    This training is being financially supported by the British Phycological Society (BPS) and Algae-UK, however, a fee of £50 to cover costs will be charged.

    Call for Expressions of Interest to organise the 8th International Congress of the International Society for Applied Phycology in 2024 is now open and the deadline extended to 15 July 2021!

    The Expressions of Interest should follow the guidelines described here and be emailed to the Treasurer/Secretary, Dr. Valeria Montalescot (applied.phycologysoc@gmail.com) with the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by no later than 15 July 2021.

    We look forward to receiving your applications and are excited to see where the 8th edition of the ISAP conference will take us to!

    Voting is open from 17 June to 17 July 2021!

    During the ISAP2021 Virtual Conference (14 May to 13 August 2021), a new Executive Committee will be elected. Any good standing ISAP subscriber, nominated by at least one ISAP subscriber, can be elected as member of the Executive Committee (EC). The EC is composed of 18 persons that will work together with the President, two Vice-Presidents and Assistant President to achieve ISAP goals for the next three years.

    A list of nominees was presented at the General Assembly of the ISAP scheduled to take place on 15 June 2021. Information on the list of nominees, including a short biography and their motivation for joining the ISAP EC, is available to all the ISAP subscribers in the website section only accessible by our ISAP subscribers here.

    We have extended the deadline for you to submit your nominations for candidates for the election of the ISAP 2021-2024 Executive Committee to Tuesday 1 June 2021.

    During the ISAP2021 Virtual Conference (14 May to 13 August 2021), a new Executive Committee will be elected. Any good standing ISAP subscriber, nominated by at least one ISAP subscriber, can be elected as member of the Executive Committee (EC). The EC is composed of 18 persons that will work together with the President, two Vice-Presidents and Assistant President to achieve ISAP goals for the next three years.

    You wish to know more about the governance and functioning of the ISAP as well as work closely to its President in order to contribute to the ISAP future development? You enjoy contributing to non-profit initiatives?

    ISAP is calling for volunteers for the ISAP Assistant President position for the next term (2021-2024). If you are interested please submit your application by 30 June 2021.

    We invite you to send us the following information:

    2. A short biography (maximum 1 page)
    3. A cover letter to explain your motivation

    The next ISAP President, Prof. Qiang Hu, will be announcing the selected candidate for the Assistant President position by 13 September 2021.

    In collaboration with GlobalSeaweedSTAR, we are pleased to announce a call for workshop applications aimed at supporting the organization of online workshops that will promote and contribute to the education of young generations of scientists and engineers dedicated to algal biotechnology!

    The call is open to any member of ISAP who holds a permanent position at a research or teaching institution located in a DAC-listed country and can demonstrate experience in teaching and organization skills. The total support available for each workshop cannot exceed £2,000.

    Application deadline is 1 April 2021
